I’m Jequaii, founder of Urban Girl Book Club!!

In January 2022, one of my resolutions was to read more physical books because audible had me in a chokehold for years! That year I only read 6 books and felt quite defeated. I decided then that I needed to make leisurely reading a priority because as a single mom of two it is a form of self care. My friends and family started to show interest in the books I was reading and thus, Urban Girl Book Club was born.

The Set Up:

1. Follow Us on IG @UrbanGirlBookClub.
   
2. At the end of the month we will choose a book to read. There will be 2 options and poll will be distributed on our IG page.
   
3. We will read one book a month.
   
4. Then we will meet online or in person at the end of that month to discuss the book!

Vintage Black Book Store

My wonderful neighbor Mr. Bob gave me 16 bags of his wife’s books. All black authors from the 80’s, 90’s and 2000’s. While looking through the books I saw a few of my faves like Sister Souljah’s “The Coldest Winter Ever” but most of all the collection really took me back to my childhood of watching my mom incessantly read then finding my own love for reading. So I’ve decided to share the wealth and do my best to tell Mrs. Bob’s story by sharing this literature with you all!
